The Cleveland Guardians advanced to the American League Championship Series after defeating the Chicago White Sox 2-0 in Game 5 of the ALDS on Saturday. Cleveland rallied from an 0-2 series deficit by winning three straight elimination games, becoming only the fourth team in MLB history to win a best-of-five series after dropping the first two games at home.
José Ramírez supplied the offense with a two-run homer in the fourth inning scoring Steven Kwan. Starter Gavin Williams struck out 12 over 5⅔ innings of one-hit ball, leading a staff that set a postseason record by striking out 21 Chicago batters. Cleveland next plays the Tampa Bay Rays.
