ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays seem to have avoided a significant injury scare after superstar third baseman Junior Caminero and outfielder Jonny DeLuca crashed into each other while chasing a foul ball in the ninth inning of Tampa Bay’s 7-3…

Tampa Bay Rays players Junior Caminero and Jonny DeLuca avoided major injuries after a violent collision in the ninth inning of Monday's 7-3 ALCS Game 1 loss to Cleveland at Tropicana Field. Both players converged on a foul fly ball hit by Brayan Rocchio, colliding near the left-field bullpen wall before Caminero remained in the game.
Following the incident, Rays manager Kevin Cash stated that Caminero appeared to simply have had the wind knocked out of him. Caminero reported a minor headache but felt good overall, while DeLuca noted bumps to his shoulder and hand, attributing the collision to aggressive effort and loud stadium noise.
