The Story in 60 Seconds

The Denver Nuggets have officially waived 27-year-old guard Lonnie Walker IV from his non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 training camp contract, according to two league sources. The roster move leaves Denver with an open 15th roster spot ahead of their final preseason games and the 2026–27 regular season. Walker struggled to secure a spot in head coach David Adelman's rotation, playing just 17 total minutes across Denver's first three preseason games before being benched for Sunday's 133-128 win against Chicago.

Following his release, Walker is expected to pursue opportunities in European basketball after signing with Serbian sports agent Misko Raznatovic's agency, BeoBasket. Walker previously played overseas for Lithuanian club Zalgiris Kaunas and Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he averaged 15.2 points per game last season. Denver decided to maintain financial flexibility and focus on younger, cost-controlled talent like Ryan Nembhard, Cam Whitmore, Bryce Hopkins, and Alpha Diallo.
