With the second new ball just two overs old, Assam will walk out on the fourth morning with its tails up, hoping to find a crack in the nagging sixth-wicket partnership between Salil and Emanjot

Punjab opening batter Vihaan Malhotra scored a century on his First Class debut, hitting 103 runs on day three of their Ranji Trophy round one match against Assam at the New PCA Stadium. He built a 137-run opening partnership with Harnoor Pannu, who scored 54 runs. Despite their strong start, Punjab suffered a mid-innings collapse, losing five wickets for 100 runs.
Salil Arora and Emanjot Singh Chahal stemmed the flow of wickets with an unbroken 50-run sixth-wicket partnership, guiding Punjab to 287 for five at stumps. Assam remains in contention for a first-innings lead, with Punjab currently trailing by 86 runs entering the final day.
