The prime minister has been under growing pressure since the club was found guilty of Premier League rule breaches.

Deleted public records show Prime Minister Andy Burnham had two hospitality dinners with Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak while serving as mayor of Greater Manchester. The dinners took place during matches in 2017 and 2018, valued at £300 and £699 respectively. These events were omitted from a recent Greater Manchester Combined Authority statement detailing his official meetings with the club.
Downing Street defended the dinners as declared matchday hospitality rather than formal meetings. Burnham faces ongoing political pressure from Conservative figures to disclose full details of his interactions with Manchester City, particularly following the club being found guilty by an independent commission of breaching Premier League financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.
