Newcastle United could be heading towards contrasting contract decisions involving two of Matthias Jaissle’s senior players.

Jacob Murphy is reportedly very close to signing a one-year contract extension with Newcastle United, keeping him at St James' Park until the summer of 2028. Manager Matthias Jaissle reportedly wanted the 31-year-old winger to remain on Tyneside for his experience and leadership, following rejected summer transfer bids from Nottingham Forest that reached £15 million.
In contrast, midfielder Joe Willock faces an uncertain future as negotiations over a new deal stall. With Willock's current contract expiring next summer, Turkish club Besiktas retains strong interest, and Newcastle could consider selling the 27-year-old on a permanent transfer in January to avoid losing him for free.
