Long, Dickerson will not return to Phillies staff in ’27 (sources)

The Philadelphia Phillies will not retain hitting coach Kevin Long and infield coach Bobby Dickerson for the 2027 season, according to sources corroborating an NBC Sports Philadelphia report. The coaching changes follow the announcement that Don Mattingly will return as manager. Both coaches joined the franchise in 2022, but the moves come after Philadelphia's offense struggled and fell to 19th in MLB runs scored in 2026.

Long and Dickerson leave behind notable accomplishments, with Long praised for his work with Kyle Schwarber and Dickerson aiding Bryce Harper's shift to first base. Additionally, the Phillies will reportedly not bring back Minor League coordinators Adam Everett and Andy Abad.
