The Chicago Cubs have assigned 17-year-old right-handed pitcher Maykoll Jaspe to their Rookie-level Dominican Summer League Cubs Blue affiliate, according to the MiLB transaction log. The Venezuelan pitcher was signed to a minor league contract as an international free agent on October 2, 2026. The move aligns with president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer's focus on adding pitching depth early in the offseason.
Jaspe, who was born in Bejuma, Venezuela, is listed at six feet and 200 pounds. He features a three-pitch repertoire including a fastball, slider, and curveball, and will prepare for the 2027 campaign under DSL Cubs Blue manager Enrique Wilson.
