Heliot Ramos struggled overall with the Yankees, but his production against lefties supplies a case for a smaller, useful role.

Alexander Wilson argues that the New York Yankees should retain Heliot Ramos as a platoon specialist rather than dismiss him after a disappointing overall audition. Although Ramos batted just .198 across 136 plate appearances with the Yankees, he posted a strong .306/.444/.583 slash line in 45 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers in New York.
Wilson notes that Ramos delivered a .908 OPS against left-handers across the entire season. The writer contends the Yankees should evaluate Ramos for targeted starts and pinch-hit opportunities against southpaws instead of evaluating him as an everyday starter.
