The Hornets have waived Pat Connaughton, according to Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link). The team has confirmed the news (via Twitter). Connaughton had looked like the odd man out in Charlotte for some time.
The Charlotte Hornets have officially waived veteran guard/forward Pat Connaughton, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. The team confirmed the transaction as it needed to reduce its roster from 16 players under standard contracts down to the regular-season limit of 15. Connaughton was the only player on Charlotte's roster holding a non-guaranteed salary.
The 33-year-old spent 11 seasons in the NBA, winning a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021 before joining the Hornets in 2025. Connaughton served primarily as a veteran locker room leader in Charlotte, averaging 7.1 minutes across 42 appearances in the 2025/26 season.
