The New York Knicks’ final roster decision has put two very different NBA stories side by side. One is an unceremonious exit, and the other is a redemption.
The New York Knicks have waived 2023 NBA champion Bruce Brown, while former Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman secured the team's final regular-season roster spot, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Brown, who had signed a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 deal, was released shortly after publicly criticizing the league's collective bargaining agreement for its negative impact on mid-tier veterans, though there is no evidence linking his comments to the roster decision.
Brown managed only 11 total points across three preseason games, while Wiseman capitalized on his training camp opportunity by averaging 8.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in four appearances. Wiseman, who missed the 2024–25 campaign due to a torn Achilles tendon, enters the regular season as a reserve center behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond.
