The Story in 60 Seconds

The Portland Trail Blazers have officially waived 23-year-old forward Jeremy Sochan ahead of the 2026–27 NBA season. The decision leaves the former lottery pick without a team just four months after winning an NBA Championship with the New York Knicks. Sochan had signed a one-year, non-guaranteed training-camp contract worth approximately $2.6 million with Portland in August.

Trail Blazers general manager Joe Cronin opted to leave the 15th roster spot vacant to maintain salary-cap and luxury-tax flexibility for future moves. During four preseason games, Sochan averaged 6.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in limited minutes. If he clears waivers unclaimed, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
