The Philadelphia Flyers earned their first victory of the season by defeating the Ottawa Senators 3-1. Drake Batherson opened the scoring for Ottawa off an assist from Claude Giroux, but Philadelphia responded with goals from Porter Martone and Matvei Michkov. The Flyers sealed the win with an empty-net goal late in the final period.
Ottawa entered the matchup with a 6-2 record behind previously undefeated goaltender Linus Ullmark, who faced Dan Vladar in net for Philadelphia. Defenseman Thomas Chabot sustained an injury during the game and did not return for the third period, leaving the Senators' defense depleted.
