The Story in 60 Seconds

Celtic have been put on alert ahead of the January transfer window as Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Balazs Toth is resisting a contract extension. The 29-year-old Hungarian international's current deal expires at the end of the season, potentially allowing Celtic to pursue a pre-contract agreement in January. Journalist Alan Nixon reported that Toth is not currently open to signing the new terms offered by Blackburn.

Toth was previously targeted by Celtic in the summer, but no agreement was finalized. Celtic subsequently signed Sam Johnstone on loan from Wolves to provide competition alongside current first-choice goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo. With Toth's contract running down, manager Martin O'Neill could sanction a renewed approach for the goalkeeper.
