Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon says he wants to keep the team in Portland. He’s also disputing a report that he privately raised the possibility of moving it.
Portland Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon affirmed that keeping the team in Portland is his priority, denying reports that he privately discussed relocation. The franchise is currently negotiating with local government officials to renovate Moda Center and extend their long-term stay. While both sides are targeting December 31 to finalize an agreement, the current arena lease runs through 2030.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver previously stated it would be a failure not to keep the franchise in Portland, emphasizing the community's strong fan support. Blazers president of business operations Dewayne Hankins reiterated the team's commitment to the city, while Dundon noted that having four years left on the lease provides ample time to reach a deal.
