Nathan Lyon left out but his replacement made hay under leaden skies at St George's Park

Scott Boland claimed two crucial wickets in two balls to leave South Africa struggling at 2-20 on a rain-affected opening day of the second Test in Gqeberha. Replacing Nathan Lyon in an all-seam Australia attack, Boland bowled Aiden Markram for 11 and had David Bedingham caught behind for a golden duck across limited passages of play.
Only 76 balls were possible throughout Sunday due to persistent rain and wet conditions at St George's Park. Debutant opener Marques Ackerman remained unbeaten on five alongside captain Temba Bavuma on four when play was officially abandoned for the day at 4:15 pm local time.
