Magdeburg missed out on climbing to third in 2. Bundesliga as they were held to a draw in Darmstadt.

Stoke City loanee Milan Smit scored an equalizer to earn Darmstadt a 1-1 draw against Magdeburg in a 2. Bundesliga clash at the Bollenfalltor. Tobias Müller gave the visitors an early lead inside the opening 15 minutes before Smit leveled the score with a backheel finish for his fifth goal for Darmstadt.
The draw prevented Magdeburg from moving level on points with second-placed Wolfsburg and denied them a climb to third place. The result extended Darmstadt's unbeaten streak to three matches across all competitions, momentarily lifting them out of bottom place in the table.
