Thomas Müller reflected on Germany's famous 7-1 victory against Brazil in the 2014 World Cup during an appearance on the Late Run podcast. The attacker explained that the German squad carried strong momentum from their club careers into the tournament. Müller noted that the German players were shocked to lead 5-0 at halftime in the semifinal, recalling how an early goal shifted pressure entirely onto the host nation.
According to Müller, manager Joachim Löw instructed the team to play calmly and respectfully in the second half. Müller also humorously described actively avoiding Brazilian defender David Luiz late in the match following a duel between them.
