Derek Mazou-Sacko is a player that Millwall have had to be patient with since joining, but he is becoming a player crucial to Alex Neil.

Charlie Hodgson of The72 argues that Millwall's patience with midfielder Derek Mazou-Sacko is paying off under manager Alex Neil. The 22-year-old French midfielder arrived from Rodez in August 2025 for a reported fee of around €500,000 and has steadily established himself as an important presence in Neil's squad.
Hodgson highlights Mazou-Sacko's defensive contributions, aerial ability, and ball retention as key assets that make Millwall tougher to break down. Having made 23 league appearances during the club's run to the Championship play-offs last season, Mazou-Sacko is now approaching 35 appearances for the club.
