Agent of West Ham outcast meets with La Liga chief over potential winter transfer escape

West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez could be set for a winter transfer after his agent, Tarek Sebiat, met with Valencia sporting director Braulio Vazquez, according to AS. Alvarez is reportedly keen on a move away from the London Stadium in January after failing to make a single Championship matchday squad this season under manager Nuno Espirito Santo. A switch to La Liga would reunite the 28-year-old with former Mexico national team boss Javier Aguirre.

Alvarez has not featured competitively since an August 8 EFL Cup victory over Portsmouth. Writer James Ray argues that the midfielder's omission from West Ham's squad is justified due to the emergence of younger prospects such as Mohamadou Kante and Lewis Orford, alongside the form of Tomas Soucek, Arne Engels, and Divine Mukasa.
