Birmingham City loaned the midfielder out to fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers last term but he could step up if Tomoki Iwata leaves.

Writer Harry Mail argues that Tomoki Iwata's potential departure from Birmingham City would benefit 24-year-old midfielder Taylor Gardner-Hickman. Manager Chris Davies confirmed that 29-year-old Iwata may leave when his contract expires at the end of the season, potentially opening up consistent first-team opportunities for teammates.
Gardner-Hickman, who spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, is under contract with Birmingham City until 2028. After recovering from a recent injury, he has returned to Davies' plans with consecutive substitute appearances, competing in midfield alongside Paik Seung-ho, Jhon Solis, and Max Bird.
