Sky Sports pundit delivers verdict on Preston North End’s “knee jerk” Paul Heckingbottom sacking decision

Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood described Preston North End's decision to dismiss manager Paul Heckingbottom as quite a knee-jerk reaction. Heckingbottom was fired following a 1-0 home defeat against Lincoln City after the club suffered six losses across their first seven Championship matches of the campaign.

Sherwood noted that Heckingbottom did a good job and felt the dismissal appeared very early into the season. Appointed in August 2024, Heckingbottom oversaw 109 matches for Preston North End, registering 33 wins, 35 draws, and 41 losses before his tenure ended.
