Championship strugglers Preston appoint new manager

Preston North End have appointed Graham Alexander as their new manager following his departure from Bradford City. The 54-year-old former Preston player succeeds Paul Heckingbottom, who was dismissed after the Championship side suffered six defeats in their opening seven league matches of the season.

Alexander returns to Deepdale alongside long-term assistant Chris Lucketti with the club sitting second-bottom of the Championship table. Alexander previously earned promotion to League One with Bradford in the 2024-25 season and left them at the top of the table after securing five wins from their first seven games.
