‘I Played For Man Utd and Wrexham – But Retired at 27 and Now I’m a Plumber’

Former Manchester United defender Lee Roche transitioned into a career as a plumber after retiring from professional football at age 27. Roche, who joined Manchester United's youth setup in 1997, made five first-team appearances under manager Sir Alex Ferguson, including a Champions League match against Deportivo La Coruna in 2003.

Following his departure from Old Trafford on a free transfer, Roche played for Burnley, Wrexham, and non-league Droylsden before injuries cut his playing career short. He later established a cavity wall removal business and worked as an under-11s coach at Bury.
