Josh Windass says he will drop back to play in a deeper role as he gets older but the attacking midfielder feels he still has a lot to offer at the top of the pitch.
Wrexham attacking midfielder Josh Windass has revealed plans to transition into a deeper midfield role later in his career as he gets older. Speaking on That Wrexham Podcast, the 32-year-old explained that while he currently retains the pace to excel as a number 10, he is already thinking about adjusting his positioning for the future.
Windass joined Phil Parkinson's side from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2025, scoring 17 goals in all competitions during his debut campaign and earning the club's Player of the Season award. Although he acknowledges that he currently lacks the tactical discipline to operate as a defensive number six, he expects to drop back once his pace declines.
