The Story in 60 Seconds

Canada Soccer's low-barrier grassroots pilot program, En Jeu, concluded its inaugural season with more than 500 new youth players across Nova Scotia and Quebec. The initiative, organized alongside Soccer Nova Scotia and Soccer Québec, was designed to leverage excitement from the 2026 FIFA World Cup to introduce children with no prior organized soccer experience to the sport across 13 participating clubs.

The four-to-six-week program provided turnkey curriculum and equipment for players aged 7 to 12 at minimal to no cost for families. Supported by the Canadian Olympic Committee, the initiative plans to return with an expanded edition in 2027 ahead of the FIFA Women's World Cup.
