The Story in 60 Seconds

Canada Soccer's low-barrier community program, Game On, concluded its first season with more than 500 new registered players across 13 clubs in Nova Scotia and Québec. Developed to build on the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026, the pilot project offered a four- to six-week curriculum designed specifically for children aged 7 to 12 with no prior organized soccer experience.

The initiative provided community clubs with equipment kits, coaching session plans, and marketing assets to minimize barriers for families. Supported by the Canadian Olympic Committee as part of its youth participation goals, Canada Soccer announced plans to expand the program with a new edition in 2027 ahead of the FIFA Women's World Cup.
