FC Barcelona have issued a formal statement addressing recent communications from UEFA and Real Madrid regarding the ongoing Negreira Case. The Catalan club clarified that UEFA has not opened or reactivated any new proceedings against them, explaining that the investigation initiated in 2023 was never closed. Barcelona noted that UEFA merely confirmed receipt of documentation from Real Madrid, which will be reviewed within the existing framework.
Barcelona emphasized that investigators have not forwarded Real Madrid's complaint or requested further information from the club. The proceedings remain subject to the ongoing criminal case in Spain, during which Barcelona has continued competing in UEFA tournaments. The investigation is reportedly expected to conclude by the end of the year, ahead of the scheduled El Clasico match on October 26.
