Real Madrid forward Carlos Espí has received his first senior Spain call-up from manager Luis de la Fuente, replacing the injured Ferran Torres for the remaining international break fixtures. Espí earned the selection following a six-goal contribution—scoring four goals and providing two assists—during Spain Under-21s' 13-0 victory against San Marino.

García left for Fulham during the summer seeking regular football and national team recognition, but Arora highlights that Espí has moved ahead in contention despite playing fewer minutes.
