Former Brazil and Real Madrid left-back Roberto Carlos revealed during the Portugal Football Summit that he lost 99% of his football earnings. Speaking at a round-table discussion focused on players' post-careers, the retired defender disclosed that his bank accounts were drained due to unscrupulous individuals, issues with his former agent, and personal family complications.

Carlos stated that he was forced to restructure both his financial and personal affairs after losing control of his past finances. He noted that he made mistakes and publicly urged younger players to avoid repeating them. The report noted that other former footballers, including Emmanuel Adebayor and Yohan Mollo, have previously experienced similar financial exploitation.
