Aston Villa exited the Carabao Cup in the fourth round after suffering a 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday night. Unai Emery made nine changes to his squad following a Premier League win over Manchester City, but Villa struggled to cope with the hosts. Goals from Amine Adli, Lewis Cook, and Alvaro Rodriguez secured Bournemouth's advancement to the quarter-finals for the first time since the 2018/19 season.
Adli opened the scoring in the seventh minute from Julio Soler's cross before Cook doubled the lead early in the second half following an error by goalkeeper Marco Bizot. Rodriguez sealed the victory in the 69th minute with a low finish assisted by Tyler Adams. Emery noted after the match that his squad lacked the required intensity during the opening 20 minutes and failed to take their chances.
