Liverpool loanee's spell at Valencia has taken a twist as he aims to get his career back on track…

Harvey Elliott's loan spell at Valencia suffered a significant setback after the Liverpool loanee was sent off in a 2-1 defeat against Villarreal. Introduced as a substitute in the 70th minute, the 23-year-old received two yellow cards in quick succession in the 89th minute, reportedly for a foul followed by dissent. Following the dismissal, Georges Mikautadze scored a late winner for Villarreal, leaving Valencia 19th in La Liga.
Valencia manager Javier Aguirre criticized Elliott following the match, calling the sending-off absurd and ridiculous. Aguirre noted that the dismissal disrupted the team while they held a numerical advantage following an earlier red card for Villarreal's Pape Gueye. Elliott joined Valencia on a temporary loan from Liverpool after previously spending time at Aston Villa.
