Michael Carrick will remain in charge of Manchester United for their trip to Chelsea this weekend.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick will remain in charge for Saturday's Premier League match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. United's hierarchy has decided to give the 45-year-old an opportunity to turn results around despite an eight-match winless streak in all competitions that has left the club sitting just one place above the relegation zone following a 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth.
Club executives Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada were at the training ground on Monday, and United's hierarchy reportedly explored alternatives including Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann. Carrick, who took permanent charge in May, has faced internal friction after defender Lisandro Martinez criticised investment and captain Bruno Fernandes questioned tactics before being benched on Sunday.
