Michael Carrick left in limbo as vilified chiefs Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox meet for crisis summit at Carrington: Inside Man United’s day of reckoning after humiliating Bournemouth defeat

Michael Carrick's future as Manchester United head coach remains uncertain after senior executives held crisis talks at Carrington on Monday. Chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox spoke with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co-chairmen Joel and Avram Glazer following United's 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth. The loss leaves United one point above the Premier League relegation zone after their worst league start in 40 years.

Carrick attended Carrington to watch a behind-closed-doors match while discussions took place, though it is unclear whether a decision on his dismissal has been finalized. Tensions have risen following his benching of captain Bruno Fernandes, who previously criticized tactical decisions. If United dismiss Carrick, Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann are reportedly considered leading candidates to potentially replace him.
