Jordan Pickford reflects on heartbreaking World Cup goal – ‘you won’t know what you’re talking about’

Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has addressed criticism surrounding Enzo Fernandez's long-range equalizer during England's 2-1 World Cup semi-final defeat against Argentina. Pickford defended his positioning by highlighting how quickly the ball moved and noted that critics without goalkeeping expertise do not understand the situation. Anthony Gordon had initially put England ahead before Fernandez's curling strike led to Argentina's late comeback victory.

Pickford also welcomed the squad competition from Leeds United goalkeeper James Trafford under England manager Thomas Tuchel. After Trafford started recent fixtures against Spain and Czechia, Pickford is slated to return for games against Croatia and Czechia, emphasizing his dedication to self-improvement through sessions with a sports psychologist.
