Everton closed the summer transfer window with one striker and one left-back with most of the recruitment coming in the middle of the park. The engine room wasn’t really a cause for concern other than the evergreen Idrissa Gana Gueye…

Writer Gavin Kelly argues that Everton should target Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin as a bargain signing in the January transfer window. The 25-year-old Belgian international impressed at the World Cup under Rudi Garcia, where he consistently started ahead of Premier League midfielders Romeo Lavia and Amadou Onana.
According to the opinion piece, Raskin previously turned down a deadline-day loan offer with a sub-£15m buy option from Besiktas. Kelly suggests Raskin's defensive work rate would complement Everton manager David Moyes' squad and liberate attacking players like Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
