The Story in 60 Seconds

Ipswich Town Under-21s opened their Premier League International Cup campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Anderlecht at Portman Road on Tuesday evening. First-team players Cedric Kipre and Marcelino Nunez both started and featured for roughly an hour to build match fitness. Anderlecht secured the victory courtesy of a first-half strike from Pape Aliya N'Dao, who converted a cross from Enzo Sternal.

Town suffered early defensive blows as both Oliver Wilkinson and Jacob Mazionis were forced off due to injuries in the first half. Despite Anderlecht goalscorer N'Dao receiving a late straight red card for grabbing Walker Shabazz-Edwards by the throat, John McGreal's Ipswich side could not find an equalizer.
