Iraola decides on change to Liverpool starting XI after sub pushes to start

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has decided to keep Alisson Becker as his undisputed starting goalkeeper despite Giorgi Mamardashvili pushing for Premier League minutes. Mamardashvili impressed during Liverpool's Carabao Cup third-round victory over Tottenham Hotspur, where he made a notable reflex save against Omar Marmoush. However, reports indicate Iraola will not displace Alisson unless the Brazilian goalkeeper suffers an injury.

Alisson, whose contract expires next summer, remains in fine form and holds a guaranteed spot in the lineup alongside Virgil van Dijk and Alexander Isak. Mamardashvili is expected to be limited to domestic cup competitions for the rest of the campaign, while Liverpool also previously spent £30m on young Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans.
