The former Liverpool sporting director packed his bags for Saudi Arabia following the summer transfer window…
According to a report from The Athletic, Liverpool officials have grown frustrated with former sporting director Richard Hughes' transfer business. The report indicates that recent recruitment campaigns have left current manager Andoni Iraola with a small, unbalanced squad that requires additional scouting expertise to fix.
Hughes oversaw major squad turnover following Liverpool's 2024-25 Premier League title, spending heavily on players including Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Bradley Barcola while losing key figures on free transfers. Following Arne Slot's departure, Hughes recently left Liverpool to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
