Man United contact ‘one of the best coaches in history’ as he decides about joining

Manchester United have reportedly contacted former France manager Didier Deschamps as club executives Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada evaluate potential replacements for current manager Michael Carrick. Despite a 3-2 Champions League comeback win against Roma on Tuesday, Carrick remains under pressure with United sitting 17th in the Premier League after only one win in nine matches.

According to Foot Mercato, Deschamps is not overly keen on taking over immediately due to concerns regarding United's recruitment and overall direction. Other managerial targets under consideration reportedly include Julian Nagelsmann, Eddie Howe, Fabian Hürzeler, and Unai Emery, though Deschamps is reportedly willing to wait until next summer before making his managerial return.
