Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag stated that Cristiano Ronaldo let both him and the team down during their time working together at the club. Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Ten Hag cited issues including Ronaldo failing to complete a post-match run following a 4-0 defeat against Brentford in 2022.
Ten Hag also claimed Manchester United's owners failed to keep key promises regarding loyalty and communication before sacking him in October 2024. He expressed disappointment over the transfer of midfielder Scott McTominay to Napoli, asserting the sale happened without his consent.
