Chido Obi's loan to Willem II has stalled his development, with minimal game time raising questions about Manchester United's loan strategy for young talents.

The Peoples Person writer Daniel Onguko argues that Manchester United's decision to send striker Chido Obi on a season-long loan to Willem II is failing. Despite scoring 20 goals across all competitions in United's academy during the 2025-26 season, the 18-year-old Danish forward has played just 48 out of 900 available league minutes for the newly promoted Dutch top-flight club.
Onguko contends that INEOS erred by sanctioning the loan without guaranteed playing-time clauses or a development plan. The writer suggests Manchester United may need to recall Obi in the January transfer window to prevent his progress from stalling further.
