Manchester United ‘monitoring’ Primeira Liga wonderkid

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Porto right-back Alberto Costa ahead of the January transfer window. Michael Carrick's side has experienced a difficult start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign, sitting 12th in the table with just five points from their opening five games. CaughtOffside reports that United, alongside Arsenal, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain, are tracking the 22-year-old defender, though no formal offers have been made.

Costa joined Porto from Juventus in July 2025 for a reported €15m plus €1m in bonuses, signing a contract through June 2030. He contributed one goal and nine assists in 47 appearances during Porto's title-winning 2025-26 campaign. Any permanent pursuit would be costly, as the defender reportedly possesses a €65m release clause, with Juventus retaining a 10% sell-on share of any future profit.
