Aston Villa interest is firm and longstanding – Officials sent, 8 goals this season

Aston Villa holds a longstanding interest in Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni, having tracked the Argentine since his spell at Vélez Sarsfield. Villa has sent officials to scout the 20-year-old this season, while Tottenham Hotspur has also kept a close eye on his performances. Prestianni has impressed early in the 2026/27 campaign, scoring eight goals in 12 appearances across all competitions for Benfica.

Benfica signed Prestianni for €9.5m (£8.3m) in January 2024 and previously resisted transfer interest from River Plate, Ajax, and Trabzonspor. His current contract runs until 2029 with a €100m (£87m) release clause, but Benfica is now working to extend his deal until 2031 with a pay raise following praise from manager Marco Silva.
