Lucas Bergvall has expressed satisfaction after signing a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur, though he did not deny the existence of a release clause. The Swedish midfielder had requested a transfer during the summer window amid concerns over playing time following major midfield arrivals, but Spurs rejected a permanent £46 million bid from Newcastle United to keep him.
After deciding to stay, Bergvall penned a fresh deal that reportedly increased his wages from £60,000 to £100,000 per week. He has since featured in five matches across all competitions this season in his preferred role.
