John Souttar's potential winter exit could enable Rangers to complete the permanent signing of Excelsior centre-back Casper Widell, according to Jacob Raw. Souttar has been frozen out under manager Derek McInnes, but the defender previously blocked potential loan or permanent moves, including an offer from Aris Limassol, after demanding a six-figure payoff on his Ibrox contract.
Widell revealed that a summer move to Rangers fell through because Souttar remained at the club. With Widell keen on moving to Glasgow and approaching the final stretch of his contract, Raw argues Rangers could secure a cut-price deal in January if Souttar finally departs.
