Man Utd make Carrick sack plan as ‘contact made’ with Premier League winner

Manchester United have reportedly initiated plans to replace manager Michael Carrick following a poor start to the Premier League season. According to a report from CalcioMercato, the club has established contact with former Chelsea and Napoli manager Antonio Conte, placing the 57-year-old at the top of their managerial shortlist if Carrick is dismissed.

Carrick has overseen just one victory in United's opening five Premier League fixtures, alongside a 3-2 home defeat to Brighton in the Carabao Cup. Conte is currently a free agent after departing Napoli at the conclusion of the previous campaign, having previously secured a Premier League title at Stamford Bridge in 2016-17.
