Canelo Alvarez targeted by controversial KO artist moving up in weight: “I’m ready”

Former unified middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly has targeted a future unification bout against Canelo Alvarez. Alimkhanuly announced his intentions on social media after Hamzah Sheeraz vacated the WBO super-middleweight title rather than facing him. Alimkhanuly plans to claim the vacant WBO title before pursuing a fight with the Mexican icon.

To secure the matchup, Alvarez must first defeat undefeated champion Christian Mbilli for the WBC super-middleweight title on October 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, the WBO is expected to order a vacant title bout between Alimkhanuly and Denmark's Jacob Bank to determine the next champion.
