Janibek Alimkhanuly and Jacob Bank have reached terms to contest the vacant WBO super middleweight world championship, according to WBO president Gustavo Olivieri. Bank's manager stated to Mike Coppinger that the title fight will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December. The bout marks Alimkhanuly's debut bid for gold at super middleweight after moving up divisions.
The vacant championship opened up after former champion Hamzah Sheeraz vacated his belt instead of completing a mandatory defense against Alimkhanuly. Contender Diego Pacheco also chose a different bout against Darius Fulghum, which opened the pathway for the undefeated Bank to face the former unified middleweight titleholder.
