Bhuvneshwar Kumar has rejoined India's squad ahead of the decisive fifth T20I against the West Indies. His unexpected inclusion follows a shoulder injury sustained by pacer Arshdeep Singh during the fourth match in Hyderabad. With the five-match series tied 2–2, Bhuvneshwar could make his first international appearance for India since November 2022.
Arshdeep hurt his bowling shoulder after being hit by a Shamar Joseph delivery while batting, leaving his status uncertain. Bhuvneshwar, who took 28 wickets in 16 matches during IPL 2026, was initially scheduled to return in the upcoming New Zealand series.
